Relief Society Birthday Party

Last month our Church celebrated the birthday of the women's organization that is called Relief Society.  My responsibility in the church right now is to plan meetings each month for the sisters to get together and do something.  It can be spiritual, physical, fun, educational, etc.  Anything that will help us in our lives.  But since March was the anniversary of the organization, we decided to have a
Birthday Party!!

I usually work along side another sister and together we come up with ideas for these monthly meetings and make them happen.  She came up with our theme for the party:
Birds of a Feather Flock Together

With that theme, and springtime, in my mind, I created our invitations/posters for our event!
As the ladies entered the church that night they were greeted with this sign directing them to our "pre-dinner mingles".  The sisters were able to talk and visit with other women that they may not know or don't see very often.  (Of course we had some fancy drinks and yummy popcorn to munch while they mingled!)
Our tables were adorned by birds nests in different shapes and styles of jars.  (The president of our organization made all of our nests. They were a perfect center piece!)  Each place had a little favor to take home after the party.
Our party menu consisted of individual homemade chicken (of course!) pot pies with a puff pastry on top.  They were the perfect size and oh so yummy.
We also had 2 options for salad.
What Birthday Party would be complete with out CAKE.  We decided to have a Birthday Cake table!  We asked 6 ladies if they would make up their favorite cake for the party.  (Samples of each were being served onto numerous plates!)
Everywhere you looked we had placed sunny daffodils and and birds to bring our theme together.
It turned out so fun and super cute.  It was a really fun theme to plan this occasion around.

It was a great reminder that, although we may be different and our life situations can be challenging, we can all come together in our shared beliefs for support and love!
Here is where I'm linking up this week:

Tasty Tuesday - Crock Pot Green Chili Burros

It's
TASTY TUESDAY
Time!!

This week I cooked up some Green Chili Burros in my crockpot!!
These are super simple and really yummy. All you need is:

Roast (I don't think it matters what type you get)
can of diced green chilis
can of Rotel
Black beans (if you like beans) I used some I had canned
salt & pepper

Dump everything on top of your roast in a crock pot. Using salt and pepper on your roast to boost the flavor. Let it cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8. About an hour before it's done, I like to start shredding it, and then let it finish cooking.
When it's done you pile it up on your tortilla with some cheese, sour cream and salsa! Super simple and the hubs LOVED IT!

Tasty Tuesday - M&M Cookies

For this TASTY TUESDAY I'm tackling cookies! I haven't made cookies in a long time! If you don't count the kind you get from the store that you break and bake!! With all the after Easter candy sales, I couldn't resist making some M&M Cookies. (I actually have a mixture of the pretzel kind and plain in these cookies.)

This is my version of a recipe I found at allrecipes.com

These were actually quiet easy to make and they made enough for the family gathering we were going to. And we had plenty to share with our friends and neighbors!

Tasty Tuesday - Easter Jello Trifle

Another Easter inspired
TASTY TUESDAY

EASTER JELLO TRIFLE
For our Easter dinner I was assigned to make a jello. My mother in law has made this jello before, and it has been a hit with the family!! It may look a little crazy, but it is so yummy!!

You can change the flavor of jello to fit any holiday or taste preference!

This is something that is going to make an appearance at every holiday, with a little tweaking, I'm sure!

Mr. C's room update

During spring break my husband took the kids out of town and I stayed home!! It was a very relaxing 4 days! I did miss my kids and husband and was happy to see them when they got home. I was able to sleep in and do a little pampering but, I also kept myself busy with my spring cleaning. It was so much easier to do with no kids around.

Thank you daddy for giving momma a break!!

The first project I wanted to tackle was Mr. C's room. I've been wanting to change it up just a little. I like the colors and furniture in the room, but I needed to add something. The hubs said absolutely NO painting!! (I think he didn't want to get stuck finishing it.) So I didn't fight that battle and decided to get it organized and add a few finishing touches.

Here it is before:

An unorganized mess

The first thing I did was go through all of his toys and throw away broken ones. I decided to put some of the toys I hardly ever see him play with in his closet. I want to see if he realizes they are gone. If not, they will get sold or donated. So I organized the toys in into these bins, putting everything into categories. (We got these bins from pottery barn kids a few years ago, and I love them!)
Then I went through all the books getting rid of any torn up books they don't really read anymore. After all the digging out of the room, I ended up with a whole trash bag of stuff!

Isn't that horse so cute! That was my husbands when he was little.
Last year I got these pictures from A Vintage Poster. I love the colors, the animals and the designs. I've just never done anything with them until now.
I took down the single picture of the boy on the pedal tractor, used some old wrapping paper and made templates of the 4 posters I was going to use, bought frames from hobby lobby for $3 each, put command picture hanging strips on the back, and hung them above the bed. I think they look great above the bed, it's the first thing you see when you walk into his room, and when he got home, he LOVED it!
I bought some letters from Michaels, traced my letters onto the back of some scrapbook paper I already had, in the same color scheme of the new pictures, and mod podge the paper onto the letters.
I decided to hang them above these two vehicle pictures that were already in the room.
Even though I couldn't paint, I think all the color in the room makes it fun and playful. Everything has a place and is easily accessible for my little ones to get to and even to help clean up at the end of the day.

Life Strikes Again

Just when we thought all our trips to the ER were over! Hubby had a run in with a piece of tin roofing. Hopefully he'll be up and running (or waving!) in no time!!

Tasty Tuesday - Egg & Veggie Turkey cups

It's time again for
TASTY TUESDAY!!

Today I am going to share with you a perfect brunch idea. I got this idea off of pinterest, of course. Here is the recipe that I changed a little bit to fit my preference.
What you will need for these beauties is:
12 slices of turkey (round or oval shape)
12 eggs
chopped mushrooms
chopped peppers
salt & pepper
shredded cheese
I sprayed my muffin tin with non stick spray and preheated my oven to 400 degrees F. I lined each cup with a slice of turkey, cracked an egg in each one, added salt & pepper, and then added my peppers and mushrooms. (you don't need a lot, I used maybe 2 TBL of each peppers and mushrooms) I also left some plain.

Bake these at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes. I baked mine for 12 minutes and the yolk was more on the firm side. If you want a runny yolk, I would bake it for 10 minutes.
When they come out of the oven I topped them with some shredded mozzarella cheese (because that is what I had, you could use any cheese).

The turkey cups were a great addition to our homemade crumb cake muffins and a big bowl of fresh fruit.
It was a perfect brunch with old friends. Catching up and laughing.

"Egg"stra Special

I decided to do a little bit of decorating on my kitchen table so we could feel the spirit of Easter as we sat together as a family for meal time. I found these eggs at Michael's and LOVED the muted colors. It's very different from my Spring Entryway! I wanted to make up a printable that would go with this color scheme and that would be fun and uplifting!
I found a frame on clearance at Hobby Lobby and added this printable to it. The colors match really well and the added bunny from Walmart, finishes off the display. I thought I would share this printable last minute before Easter arrives.
